Breaking down the superlative winners from Adidas DC

WASHINGTON, DC – Adidas was in DC over the weekend for its regional qualifier, and Prep Circuit was in the gym covering the tournament. Here is a breakdown featuring some of the most noteworthy performers from the event.

Top Performances:

Matt Curtis

Matt Curtis and Team Spartans went through the entire spring unbeaten

Malcolm Alexander | 6’4 G | DC Thunder

Malcolm Alexander's first half performance against Team BBC was one of the most memorable heat-check worthy stretches of the weekend. Alexander scored 14 in the first frame and his team ultimately held on to win by 2.

Marcus Boykin | 6’0 2020 G | Team Wall

Marcus  Boykin scored in bunches against NY Jayhawks while showcasing a smooth lefty shooting stroke. The quick guard was also a good paint getter and a crafty finisher in traffic.

Matt Curtis | 6’1 2022 G | Team Spartans

Championship Sunday belonged to Matt Curtis, who shot the lights out for Team Spartans. Curtis also shot the gap for a steal and dunk on a handful of occasions.

Saveon Jackson | 6'0 2021 G | New World

Saveon Jackson had a monster game against NJ Panthers on Sunday morning. He capped it off with an in-game dunk to close the deal.

Dean Reiber | 6’8 2020 F | Team Loaded NC

Loaded NC did not make it out of pool play, but Dean Reiber made sure to go out with a bang in his last game. He started feeling it from mid range and three but also rebounded and finished strong inside.

Elijah Hawkins

Elijah Hawkins was tremendous this weekend

Jamal Barnes | 6’4 2020 G | DC Thunder

Jamal Barnes was the most consistent player on both ends of the floor for DC Thunder. He was also the most vocal player on the team.

Corey Dyches | 6’3 2020 G | New World

Corey Dyches set the tone with his athleticism and unrelenting motor. He competed at a high level throughout the tournament and this became contagious among his teammates.

Elijah Hawkins | 5’9 2021 G | New World 2021

Elijah Hawkins flat out ran the show for a talented New World team that impressed.

Jordan Geronimo | 6’5 2020 W | Mass Rivals

Jordan Geronimo filled a myriad of roles while providing tremendous energy throughout the championship run.

David N’Guessan | 6’8 2020 F | Team BBC

David N'Guessan was the most outstanding prospect for Team BBC. He led with his actions, but also his words.

Casey Simmons

2021 Casey Simmons is a name to know in the northeast

Jordan Brathwaite | 6’6 2020 F | New World

Brathwaite didn't demand many touches, but worked hard and was rewarded. 

Angelo Brizzi | 6’3 2021 G | Team BBC

Brizzi gained valuable experience playing up and showcasing winning intangibles in the process.

JayShaun Freeman | 6’0 2020 G | Team BBC

Freeman showed that he can score with the best of them when locked in.

Dowar Jioklow | 6’8 2020 F | New World

Jioklow was a matchup problem all weekend long in the mid to high post area.

Dallion Johnson | 6’2 2020 G | Mass Rivals

Johnson stretched the floor consistently but also showcased an impressive mid range game as well as the ability to attack the rim in transition.

Josh Odunowo | 6’6 2020 F | Team BBC

Odunowo was a relentless rebounder who fed off scraps and won extra possessions for his team.

Casey Simmons | 6’4 2021 W | Mass Rivals

Simmons stepped up on Championship Sunday and defended at a high level. He was best offensively in transition where he could utilize his length and athleticism to get to the rim.

Chris Smith | 6’7 2020 F/C | DC Thunder

Smith was a bruiser who ferociously patrolled the paint. He moved bodies and helped his team control the interior.

Cam Tongue | 6’7 2021 F | Mass Rivals

Tongue was an important physical presence, rebounder, and rim runner during his team's championship run.

Carter Whitt | 6’3 2021 G | Team Loaded NC

Whitt pulled the strings for Loaded NC while showcasing superb toughness.

DeMarr Langford

Langford has the intangibles you look for in a star player

DeMarr Langford | 6’4 2020 G | Mass Rivals

DeMarr Langford was the unquestioned leader of his team. He was a constant vocal presence who stood up to whatever challenge he was faced with. Langford often guarded the opposing team's best player and was able to consistently initiate offense as well as get his own.
