Hoover, Alabama - The 17U semifinals have been set and here we preview the Atlanta Celtics (GA) verses Team Loaded (VA) semifinal matchup. The Celtics have been one of the best Adidas grassroots programs all spring and summer long and come in with an 18-3 overall record. They have been led by Xavier commit 2020 PG Dwon Odom, who will be coming in averaging 17.0 points per game. Junior guards Deivon Smith, Toneari Lane, and Caleb Murphy round out their guard tandem.
There comeback in their elite eight matchup against Upward Stars (SC), was one of the best comebacks in grassroots hoops this season. The Celtics were down 20 at the half and came out with a whole different focus in the second half and at one point were on a 30-2 run. The Celtics defeated teams like Garner Road (NC), Chauncey Billups Elite (CA), Indiana Elite Blackout (IN), Uneek Ballers (NV), Upward Stars (SC), and Indiana Elite (IN) in route to their semifinal appearance.
The Celtics matchup against Team Loaded (VA) will not be a cake walk. Team Loaded (VA) will be coming in this one with an overall 8-5 record and have been led by 2020 F Henry Coleman. The 6-foot-8 forward has been extremely dominate this weekend in Hoover, averaging 18.0 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game in five games for Loaded. This matchup will draw a big crowd and plenty of coaches should be courtside for this one. Top ranked rising junior JT Thor will also be suited in this one for Team Loaded (VA).
Their only lost came to Dream Vision (CA) by four during pool play. Since then, this squad has been locked in defensively and have made their way to the semifinal round. Team Loaded (VA) defeated teams like Wildcats Select (WV), Grassroots Canada Elite (CAN), ML20 Enforcers (OR), Play Ball Nation YIIS (TX), and Compton Magic Elite (CA) in route to their semifinal appearance.
